Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Apex Fostering different?

Apex is a smaller, more personal fostering agency, and that makes a real difference. Our carers often tell us they feel known, listened to, and valued in a way they have not experienced elsewhere. We believe that kind of relationship is essential, because fostering is deeply personal and should never feel impersonal or transactional.

We also understand that many people are not just looking for an agency. They are looking for a partner they can trust. If you want a fostering agency that combines professional support with warmth, integrity, and genuine care, Apex may be the right fit for you.

Our fostering team is committed to keeping children at the centre while also recognising the needs of carers. That balance matters. It helps create a fostering environment where children can settle, carers can grow in confidence, and the whole family feels supported.

Apex was founded with one clear aim, to offer better support for foster carers and better outcomes for children. That vision comes from lived experience, and from a belief that fostering should always put children first. Sali Walker, who grew up in care and experienced first-hand how often placements and support can fall short, created Apex to do things differently. After working in the sector and seeing how profits could be placed ahead of people, Sali set out to build an agency rooted in care, integrity, and lasting relationships.

Today, Sali personally meets every potential foster carer, helping ensure each child is matched with the right home. Their story, alongside a lifelong commitment to supporting children and young people, shapes the values that guide Apex every day.

Our core values are child-centred care, team, respect, integrity, self-responsibility, and fun. They guide every decision we make and every conversation we have.

Our fostering team support carers with personal guidance, training, clear communication, and ongoing help throughout the fostering journey. Our carers know they can rely on us for both practical and emotional support.

People often choose Apex because they want a fostering agency that feels personal, caring, and transparent. We combine professional support with a warm, community-focused approach that keeps children and carers at the centre. If you would like to hear directly from the people who know Apex best, you can watch our On the Sofa with Sal video series, where foster carers share their real experiences of fostering with Apex.
